A Word to Discover: Obstacles
Creating a personal best life takes vision. Overcoming obstacles gives new lenses.
Obstacles stand in the way of progress. They stop us, preventing movement (except in circles), and keep us stuck in our past lives. If you often replay past events, recycle through emotional loops, or find yourself staring into space not knowing what to do next, you are likely stuck by obstacles.
In this season, think through what keeps you from doing delightful things in your one-and-only life. You are a rare bird, created to serve your world with gusto and fly. Obstacles challenge everyone. You are not alone.
Some things suck energy and life right out of our guts. Remove or distance yourself from those kinds of obstacles until you gain the wisdom to navigate them. We hope to help you here.
Sometimes our reaction to obstacles is the actual culprit sucking life from us. Take a deep loving breath and try to give thanks for the awakening list of good found in your life. Hold this list (or the quote below) in your pocket to pull out when memory fades. Over time, this will create a new pathway to walk.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. — Philippians 4:8 (NIV)
